Institutions of higher education
Stichting Studielink provides institutions of higher education, educational umbrella organisations VSNU and the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Science and DUO – the Studielink partners – with a platform for cooperation and innovation in higher education in terms of Student & Education information and administration.
The Netherlands has various types of higher education institutions. The two main types are universities and universities of applied sciences. Universities (or research universities) are mainly responsible for offering research-oriented programmes in an academic setting. Universities of applied sciences offer programmes that focus on the practical application of theoretical knowledge previously acquired during lectures. These tend to be more practice oriented than programmes offered by research universities and they prepare students for specific professions.
